The 5 Most Amazing Places to visit in the Vancouver Area

So you have flown, drove or are planning a trip to Vancouver to witness the absolute beauty that this city has to offer. Or maybe you’re a resident here and you’re looking for something to do, either way this is a list of my top 5 most amazing places to visit in the Vancouver area.

  1. Panorama Ridge

Panorama Ridge has to be my absolute number 1 pick if you’re an avid hiker and have a few days to spare here in Vancouver. It’s just under 1.5 hours drive from downtown Vancouver and 30KM (round-trip) & 1520 meters elevation gain hike from the Garibaldi Lake trail head.

It’s quite a difficult hike and I would advise to be prepared with lots of water, food, layers of clothing and to travel in a group. If you’re not an avid hiker or athletically fit then I would not advise to hike all the way to Panorama Ridge but to Garibaldi Lake (18KM round-trip) instead. You still get amazing views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.

You can find more information about this hike here!

2. Cascade Falls

I highly recommend this spot to all ages and fitness levels.

It’s about a 2.5 hour drive from downtown Vancouver.

Some of my favorite spots are; Gold Creek Loop, Alouette Lake Beach & Gold Creek Campground. The campground is open year round and sites can be booked here.

Buntzen Lake is a gem in the Vancouver area, you may have seen photos of this little house on the lake but if not, It should be high on your list of places to see.

It’s an awesome place to have a picnic with friends, family, or with your partner. It’s just over an hour drive from downtown Vancouver.

You can also rent canoes in the spring/summer months which is a fun way to experience the lake. You can rent canoe’s but you unfortunately can’t book online, you can book at the little convenient store on the way to the lake. You can find directions here.

5. Joffre Lakes

I highly recommend this place for all fitness levels and for family, kids, dogs, etc. You can read more information on this hike here!
